Voice Health Monitor (VHM) design
With very limited time and budget, I designed and prototyped the neckband to mimic the feel of some name-brand wireless neckband headphones. Unique challenges included satisfying ingress protection requirements while being a serviceable prototype and a device that includes both an on-board microphone and USB port that are orthogonal to the cover plane. The throat sensor includes custom USB-C cabling developed with an off-shore vendor. Both subassemblies utilized 3D printing for their development and prototyping.
VHM in use
The monitor is worn around the neck and the throat sensor collects accelerometer signals for further downstream processing and analysis to assess vocal health.
