Field point body
Our client was developing an electronic field point that could accurately measure arrow flight characteristics that could then be used to fine tune high-end archery equipment and compare equipment performance. I was tasked with miniaturizing the initial proof of concept (shown). The miniaturized version included a small threaded expanding battery retainer and a plastic nose cone in order to match the weight and center of mass requirements as demanded by high-end archers.
Custom battery contacts
The small custom PCB housed a 3-axis accelerometer and a small coin cell battery. This image is of small custom brass battery contacts designed to solder mount to the PCB.
Field point docking station
The field point collects data that is stored on-board and must be downloaded for display and analysis. This is the alpha prototype CAD for a docking station that could accomplish this task.
Docking station prototype
Using off-the-shelf battery contacts, this design allowed for easy field point installation and could accommodate the variations in length of the tail probe connection required for data acquisition.
